Reviewed by Sarah a.k.a "Dyslexicreader" for Simply Nerdy Book Reviews--HEX HALL by Rachel Hawkins was a throughly enjoyable book, with great characters and an interesting plot. It was so good that I kept thinking that I couldn't be getting to the end so quickly. That was the biggest down fall; there needed to be another one hundred and fifty pages added to it. You just start getting to know the characters when all the sudden you start climbing to the climax. It was over all to quickly.
Sophia was a good character. I loved her humor, but I'm really starting to get what Leah says about the weak heroines. Seriously authors, get over the "not good enough" girl syndrome! What is wrong with a female character comfortable with herself and her abilities? Besides Sophie's obvious lack in confidence she was great. There where some places here and there where she truly had some uniqueness to her. (possibly from here heritage)
Archer was an other hot guy in the list of hot guys within YA books. The bad type guy that dates the biggest witch in school (pun intended) and eventually (magically) becomes attached to the leading lady. The twist at the end involving him was different though. Props to Rachel for that.
One thing I wish I could do.... Make new clothes from already existing ones. So awesome! In the end I give Hex Hall an "A-", for great new ideas and a good read that keeps you up late at night.SIMPLY NERDY BOOK REVIEWS
